Sliced Bread Notebook and My Love for Notebooks

sliced bread notebook

sliced bread notebook packaging

Packaging is often used to differentiate a standardized product from its competition. And this is exactly what Burak Kaynak tried to do when they bundled 12 notebooks and packaged it as a (too short) loaf of bread. I must say that the analogy would have been more successful if the box was standing on the side, like a real bread bag.

The pack contains 12 notebooks so that you can have one for each month of the year. The notebooks are numbered 1 to 12 to help you distinguish them.

Nonetheless, I share it because I love receiving notebooks. I buy several ones every year of different formats, lined and unlined, thin and thicks. I always carry a notebook in my purse to write down my ideas, manage projects and for making lists or simply keeping notes. Keep that and these in mind if you need to buy a gift for a friend who likes taking notes about everything.

This time, Fiona was definitely inspired by the fashion history of France. Her variation on Baroque fashion is splendid. It allows her to display burst of colors in a refined way. It is one of the rare occasions where I will suggest that you buy a kit.

If you wish to give a little something to a girl friend, you can match your card with a notebook.  You could mix the White Swan notebook and the Blue Lotus notebook to create an ensemble.

It’s OK to think outside the box when you select a greeting card. For example, the Lucky You card could be used to wish Happy Birthday! to a kid or for a Baby Shower.

In case you did not know, Cartolina produces environmentally reponsible paper products. Their recycled paper cards are printed with vegetable based inks. Their printer was named Most Environmentally Progresive Printer in Canada for the last 5 years at the Environmental Printing Awards.

Souvenirs from Japan

I needed new books to manage my projects when I remembered the index of the Apica notebook. I saw people using them on my trip to Japan.

Luckily for me, I can find them in Montreal at Papeterie Nota Bene, a fine stationery store. It is my place for notebooks. I opted for the Apica 6B5, a 50-sheet notebook. I will use it to keep track on what happens at meetings. There is a spot on the right corner of every page designed to write the date.

The index page enables you to quickly find what inside your notebook. I love the Japanese efficiency.

The small Apica 5B4 is perfect to carry on my purse. I always keep a small notebook with me to write ideas while I’m on the go. I also use my iPhone to take notes but nothing beats the fast pace of a pen and paper.

Japanese Paper and Textiles

I styled the picture with my collection of furoshiki cloths. I loved them. Some were gifts that I received from a Japanese guy that we met. One was used by the shop Aritsugu to wrap my kitchen knifes. And I bought the rest at a textile shop. I wish I bought the modern pattern furoshiki cloths I saw at the Edo-Tokyo museum.
