Happy Mother Day!

happy mother day

Three years ago, I celebrated my first Mother’s Day. Now my baby boy is big enough to get me flowers. Time flies!

This morning, the first thing I saw when I woke was his beautiful and loving smile. Then, he went shopping with my husband for supper. They invited the grand-mothers and I to dinner tonight. He is a great little helper. I am a lucky mom!

I wish you all moms a wonderful Happy Mother Day! And tell your mom that you love her and are very grateful of everything that she did and still does for you.

Technology touches every aspect of our life. Here is a company that makes our life better. Withings redefines how we use technology at home by creating smart products and smart phone apps to take care of yourself and your loved ones in a fun and innovative way. Because we reached swimsuit time, I taught that you might be interested by tools that can help you look and feel better on the beach.

Two years ago, my husband bought me the predecessor of the WS-50 scale because I was concerned at 9 months pregnant about how fast I would lose the pounds. Being a geek, he bought us something more than a scale. Jerome got the Wireless Scale WS-30. He bought us cutting edge technology that automatically tracks the weight, body mass index and fat-lean ratio of every member in our family. Continue Reading

My Simple Tips: Get Waterproof Eye Makeup Off More Easily

waterproof mascara remover tips

Any amount of wind makes my eyes cry which why I wear waterproof mascara and long-lasting crayons. But my love affair with waterproof make up products sometimes turn to hate when comes the time to take my makeup off late at night.

Last week, I needed to replenish my waterproof eye make up remover. I was asking the beauty expert about the product performance when she reminded me of a simple tip that makes all the difference. You need to let the remover soak on your eyelashes for at least 10-15 seconds. Then, everything will get off easily. She was right! I found this little break relaxing. Try it and see for yourself how much it makes a difference.

Above are the two waterproof make-up removers that I used more often. What are your favorite ones?

Big Announcements: A New Job and At Home will become At Home & Work

I have been quieter lately on my blog. It was for a good reason. I needed some time off to think about my priorities and to explore what I want to do for living from now on. 2013 seems to be a year of change for many people and I am one of them. This time off enabled me to take a huge decision. I’m returning to what I used to do before becoming a full-time blogger. My new job is an enhanced version of what I did for years at Paradivision.

What made me changed my mind? First, it was a quest for a more balanced life. Being a blogger requires too long hours for success. But it was mostly the challenges. There are so many amazing things that we can do now with the Internet. Many have not being explored yet. I want to be a part of it! Continue Reading

New Uses for Old Things: Converting a Frying Pan into a Ground Pod

diy ground pod

Ok, this one is not for everyone but I thought that it was a clever DIY project. Food and photography goes hand to hand. But this time, it is on an usual way. An inexpensive frying pan creates the base of your own custom made ground pod.

Besides the cost savings, the benefits are that it is lighter than the commercially available ground pods and that you can make it at the height that fits your body. If you are interested, the project is simple to make. Check the instructions at Digital Photography School and at Photo Migrations.

I try to remember this fun thing the next time I meet a serious photographer.

The Magical Coloured Bricks Igloo by Daniel Gray

rainbow igloo by daniel gray

This is one of most awesome igloos that I ever saw. It took  months of preparation and 150 hours of construction to engineering student Daniel Gray, with girlfriend Kathleen Starrie, family and friends, to create his icy shelter masterpiece.

If you plan to try such a project, know that you will need to collect hundreds of milk cartons to make the 500 coloured ice bricks that are necessary to build the structure. Daniel uses food colorants to get the bright colours. Continue Reading

Beam Me Up Art Suite at ICEHOTEL

beam me up room at icehotel sweden

Each year, the ICEHOTEL in the Jukkasjärvi, Sweden asked designers from across the globe to create themed art suites for their guests. Science-fiction fans would be delighted if they stay at the ICEHOTEL. After the TRON Legacy art suite from the British designers Ben Rousseau and Ian Douglas-Jones in winter 2011, they could now experience a stay in a UFO themed ice room.

Pinpin Studio staged a room with four huge UFOs hover that stand tall over an ice forest. Instead of an art piece over the bed, you see a huge UFO beaming you up. I love the theatrical nature of the Beam Me Up room.

Lean On Me Umbrella

Nine times out of ten, when I try to lean my umbrella against a wall at a restaurant or a coffee shop it ends up on the floor. I usually gave up after a few attempts. This could be a thing of the past.

Cheol Woong Seo and Jae Hee Park solved this old problem by redesigning the handle. They add a non-slip silicon pad to the shorten curved handle. It is simple when you think about it that you wonder why it took that long to create one. Now, we have to wait until an umbrella manufacturer brings this concept to a store near you.

Fashion Style Editors at the New Buyosphere

style guide what to wear on a rainy fall day

buyosphere

I want to share a project from my husband with you. Jerome is a co-founder and the CTO of Buyosphere, a social fashion advice community. Yesterday, they published the latest version of their site. They put a lot of work all summer to enhance what Buyosphere delivers to its users. If you have fashion questions about what to wear at a party, to go to work or look for the perfect rain boots, this is a great place where to start your search.

style guide what to wear on a rainy fall day

I am one of their style editors. My guides will be tailored to the multi-faceted life of women in their thirties. I started with a fashion guide to look great on a rainy day. It features some of my favorite raincoats and rain boots of the season.

If you are new to Buyosphere, here are some things that you need to know about the site.

My Style

When you sign in, you select what are your fashion styles. Do not worry, you can revise them at any time. They found out that matching friends and categories wasn’t sufficient when it came to finding the perfect outfit for you. So they did lots of research and found that there are basic style types that align with brands and people. Women have 20 styles to choose from (choose as many as you’d like!) and men have 18. Selecting your styles will vastly improve your recommendations and the content you see over time.

Style Guides

Produced and curated by Style Editors, the style guides are user generated editorial nods to the latest trends, fun themes and most enduring classics. If ever you needed solid fashion advice, these are for you. Follow me or any style editors that fit your style.

Fashion Advice

This is where you ask specific questions, like, “What shoes do I wear with a chartreuse dress?” or “What do I wear to a fall wedding with a vintage theme?” Products are more scannable, complete with Quick View and when you find something you love? Just click the heart. You can also pin, tweet and FB from every page.

I invite you to have a look at Buyosphere (and join the community). They did an amazing job with their redesign.
