Montreal Tops the Elected Cities for the World Edition Monopoly

Here & Now World Edition of MONOPOLY :: montreal in two minutes

The votes have been tallied. Hasbro revealed the 22 cities that will occupy the first-ever international MONOPOLY edition game board.

The Voting Process

More than 5.6 million votes were cast for 70 world-class cities, which determined 20 of the 22 cities featured in the game. I am proud that Montreal won the first place. It will take the place of the famous Promenade.

Riga, the largest city in the Baltic states arrives second. It is great to win against more densely inhabited cities like New York, Paris, London, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo.

What Is Different About this Edition?

Hasbro said on their press release that Chance and Community Chest cards will highlight events and culturally relevant scenarios from countries around the world.

We will be able to celebrate the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, organize an international music festival or host a Saint Patrick’s Day festival in Dublin. I am impatient to see the tokens, houses and hotels since icons and styles from all the continents inspire them.

The international theme opens a lot of possibilities for game night parties. You have about a week to prepare. The Here & Now World Edition of MONOPOLY will hit the stores on August 26th, 2008. It will give me the chance to try the credit cards and digital banking device that keep track of our balance.
