We put our mail in a small writing desk between the stairs and our living room. I bought two elegant boxes with separators (one for me, one for my husband) in hope that the desk will stay uncluttered. That was in vain. I am still looking for a better solution. Gina of Bright and Blithe came up with a simple to sew mail sorter. Her concept is clever and efficient. I am trying to figure how I can give it a more formal look. Any ideas? How do you sort your mail?
Jan. 5th, 2009 Update: Debra, a reader, emailed me this answer. Her idea pleases me so much that I had to share it with you. Debra saw a cute solution for this yesterday. She suggested to:
- Use old metal mailboxes (the kind that used to mount on the outside of a porch)
- Just hang them up and you can label them…plus if they are metal small decorative magnets can be placed on the front for messages.
- Then, umbrellas and jackets can hang below on the hooks.
In fact, I am almost set up for that. I just need to make a few adjustments.
