I have been quieter lately on my blog. It was for a good reason. I needed some time off to think about my priorities and to explore what I want to do for living from now on. 2013 seems to be a year of change for many people and I am one of them. This time off enabled me to take a huge decision. I’m returning to what I used to do before becoming a full-time blogger. My new job is an enhanced version of what I did for years at Paradivision.
What made me changed my mind? First, it was a quest for a more balanced life. Being a blogger requires too long hours for success. But it was mostly the challenges. There are so many amazing things that we can do now with the Internet. Many have not being explored yet. I want to be a part of it!
About My New Job
Since I’m an entrepreneur, you will not be surprise that I’m starting Sidekick Labs, a cutting edge social tech agency, with my long-time business partner and husband Jérôme Paradis. As a digital strategist, I strive to push the boundaries of how we can use the Internet while bringing results to our clients.
My Blog will Get a Total Update
I don’t abandon you. I will continue to blog here. I still have a lot to say and tips to share. Our business culture is built on hands-on experience. My blog will become a laboratory on social tech on top of a place where I share modern ideas on home living, running a business and enjoying life. The added focus reflects my current priorities as working mom and entrepreneur.
After 6 years of producing At Home, I felt a need for a change. Although I still care about home decor, cooking and everyday entertaining, I have things to say about entrepreneurship, being an older mom and finding the right work/life balance. To identity the broaden scope, my blog will be renamed At Home & Work with Kim Vallée once the new site is ready for launch.
We are currently developing it. It will feature a responsive design with a minimalist UI that puts the emphasis on the content. Since our clients pass first, I can tell you an exact release date. In the meantime, I will blog a little here. I have plenty of work to do with developing the strategy, the brand identity, the products and the marketing of Sidekick Labs.
I wish that you will continue to visit At Home & Work. It will continue to bring tips and finds to busy women and moms, with added bonus for the self-employed.

March 8, 2013 at 10:12I completely understand you Kim. As a mother of two starting-to-be teenagers, I had great difficulty balancing a career and a family. Now that they are a little bit older, I had the opportunity to develop a tool that I wish was there when I was raising my kids. We are launching a site for people like us that need flexibility. Stay tune and good look in your venture.

March 11, 2013 at 15:57Congratulations Kim! Building a blog is hard work and I would love to see you publish a book with some of the great tips that you have built over the years on the site.
I have been blogging for only 2.5 years and I’m also thinking it’s time for a refresh for my own blog and life as well. It’s natural to want your blog and brand to evolve and wish you all the luck and success on the redesign and new agency.

PS – my sister sent me this great post by Oh Joy! on her blog’s new direction and it really resonated with me and I found it very helpful for myself:
