For its elegance and use of transparency, Winter White Wonderland is my favorite Christmas trend this year. It feels modern, fresh and would subtlety blend into your home decor. Most of all, it is fairly easy to achieve a stunning look because you have access to a vast collection of ornaments and props.
To create dimensions, make sure to play with materials and textures. Think about decorating with silver dust, light golden tones, white milk glass, bona china, snow-frost effects, pearls, beads, mirrors, fake fur, etc… Use any materials that enable you to achieve a sense of icy cold opulence.
Variations on the Theme
I do not believe that your Christmas decorations should look the same year after year. From a budget viewpoint, you will be pleased to know that every piece of this design could be reused for many themes. As you can see in this vignette done for an entry hallway, you can mix ordinary household items with Christmas decorations and achieve a festive look.
It is simple to turn this theme around. The style could feel as modern, casual or traditional as you like. If you aim for a natural look, add moss, pines, twigs and rocks. Or make it nostalgic and display old skate ornaments, sleds, birds, knitted mitts and sweaters like I did last year for my own Christmas tree.
