Putting a rusted finish metal bookcase in your living room may not be everyone’s cup of tea but the organic shelving is really awesome. The picture shows 3 bookcases side by side. This is the perfect example of the style of bookcases that you can use to separate spaces.

Many new homes and condominium units miss a clearly defined entry hall. It is unfortunate since the entryway is the first impression to someone’s home. It does not feel right to great your guests on what is your living room or the dining room.  I imagine one or two units to create an entrance for the great room in a condo.

This is not a new concept. Look at this 1950’s divider that separate the entryway from the living room. I like this aesthetics.

I sit in an Herman Miller’s Aeron chair at home. It feels great as long as you sit properly. The problem is that I don’t. After you can if you have to sit for hours on a chair. I may cross my legs. I often bend on my left side. I like to move around on my chair.

In fact, I am not alone. That is to address these issues that Knoll launched two weeks ago a new chair called Generation. The flex back top that follows your body movement is one of many innovations that makes this chair different. The URL of the Web site of the Generation chair, Sit How you Want illustrates their concept. I still have to try one but their concept grabbed my attention. The Generation chair is currently available in stores. But you have to wait until Friday if you wish to buy it online.

Other office chair manufacturers are trying to build the ultimate task chair. Check out this video report done last June by Fast Company. They reviewed three chairs including the Generation by Knoll. They seem to like it.

There are furniture you love at first sight. Hea by the Norvegean sofa maker BG Norge is one of those times.

The creative use of patterns grabbed my attention. The design cleverly mixes fabrics in the front and the back. It is also interesting to see how the design fits well in what looks like a cottage.

Sadly for us, BG Norway seems to be available only available in Norway where they got more than a hundred retailers.

Before the weekend, I gathered the best of what the design products I spot this week. With the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) happening last week in New York City; there were plenty of great candidates for my top 3 list. I must confess that I am jealous my blogger friends who went to the ICFF show. I had previous commitments who made it impossible for me to attend. There is always next year as they say.

+ The first product is the felt and polycarbonate Coral Seating designed by Werner Aisslinger. These awesome poufs were premiered last April at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. If you are going to the DMY Festival in Berlin, from 3 – 7 June 2009, do not miss the second presentation of the Made in Berlin show. The Coral Seating is available in several colors. I love it! + The second position goes to the upcoming PS collection from IKEA. The PS collection is not yet in stores. The PS Maskros Pendant ($89.99 USD) and the PS Stock vases ($24.99 – 29.99 each) are something to look for. Via Apartment Therapy Chicago

+ The Hero 365 Rain Collector and Drying Rack are designed by the Toronto based Hero Design Lab. They would look sharp in a contemporary backyard. Hero 365 promote better habits in everyday living by bringing good design to everyday items. I cannot agree more since my blog is based on that philosophy.

The rain collection is composed by the stand, a collapsible plastic tank to collect the water and a hook for your watering can. Both lightweight aluminum items are manufactured in Canada. They are recyclable and shipped flat-packed. Via Mocoloco

We passed a lot on time in front of our computer.  Many of us do it at home. Today I wish to talk about the need to surround your home office with things you love. These fabrics specially designed by the Dutch Edward Van Vielt for the Sushi collection by Moroso are stunning. I really like the mix match of patterns. He gave a whole new meaning to patchworks.

Edward Van Vielt said in an interview that he was influenced by Marrakesh, the culture of the Far East and Middle East plus the Spirograph to create the patterns of the Sushi collection. The Spirograph was one of my favorite games as a child. And it still fascinates me today.

The collection plays with geometry in forms and patterns. It is not everyday that you see a furniture collection that could successfully integrate the straight angles of the Karmacoma sofa with the roundness of the Donut ottoman or the Juju armless seats. After Amsterdam and Milan, the Sushi collection was given an enthusiastic reception in the New York showroom of Moroso. Visitors of 2009 Salone del Mobile can admire the Sushi collection until next Monday.

Can you believe that the charming ROXO garden furniture are from IKEA? Looking at the styled picture, I imagined sitting under the sun, playing a game on my DS with a glass of ice tea. I did not find it on the EWeb site, but the top of the ROXO table is removable to become a tray. I praise double-function furniture.
