I wish you a wonderful Easter Day! We bought our Easter eggs and animals all wrapped in cute baskets this year. I will try to take pictures but I cannot promise I could resist eating it right away.

In case I cannot resist the temptation, I gathered nice images from Chocolats Geneviève Grandbois. This artisan chocolate shop is well-known in Montreal for their fine chocolate. I want to try her hot chocolate mix. I did not know she made Easter animals. I checked it out Juliette the Baby Chicken and her Hen Mother. Besides the traditional animals and eggs, she makes a cute hedgehog, a turtle and a mouse. It is good to know that they deliver in Montréal, Québec, Ottawa, Toronto.

More Options for the Flowers

For the individual bouquets in a glass, I might use instead yellow or white tulips. You could also opt for buying a bunch of orange tulips and a bunch of yellow tulips. This way, you could alternate the color of individual bouquets.

I bought the standard orange tulips yesterday and mines have a nice mauve accents on the side.  If you opt for similar orange tulips, go for a lilac napkin to bring everything together.

I added the citrus pompoms because you could get inspired by the color palette.

I took the pictures of the citrus solid dinnerware set as I came back from dinner last night. It happens that it matches the Mini Iced Easter Cookies at Williams-Sonoma. The carrot, chick and bunny cookies have a delicate lemon flavor.

It has been a while since I published a mood board. I do not know why. Here is the first of many Easter table inspiration boards.

This year more than ever calls for good authentic food at Easter. That does not means that you cannot impress your guests with a surprise or two. From an old issue of Gourmet, you get the recipes to create a Trompe l’Oeil Egg Lemon Pudding served with Anise-Seed Cake Slices as trompe l’oeil toasts. This food presentation will be the pièce de resistance (meaning the best part) of your entire meal.

The Green Beans with Celery-Salt Butter is elevated when you serve them in an ornate plate.

Make your own party favor boxes that could be filled with cookies or chocolate. A Little Hut sells a make your own box template with a bunny, butterfly, egg or daisy cover.

I selected four simple centerpieces that you can easily do at home. They each carry a sense of Spring.

1. Calla Lillies

Insert two or more calla lilies in a floral frog (pin frog). You will need florist clay to affix the floral frog to the bowl or cups. This look is very elegant. Cover the top with candies, marbles or artificial green moss to hide the pin frog.

2. Tulips and Daffodils in a Nest

You can either learn how to make a branch nest or buy one at a store. Florists, art and crafts stores or even home décor stores carry them at this time of the year. You can reproduce this look with cut flowers or flowers in pots.

Your tulips and daffodils in a nest arrangement will feel more modern if you cluster tulips beside a handful of daffodils.

I would be curious what it looks like if you cut the flowers all at the same height. You could try to keep together with rows of strings. If you make the arrangement a day or two in advance, remember that cut tulips continue to grow a little bit.

3. Spring Flowers

Delicately highlight pink lilies of the valley, species tulips, grape hyacinths, narcissus, violets, pansies, bleeding-heart leaves, and other small wonders in eggcups and similar shape vases on a teacup saucer. The Spring Flowers come from Martha Stewart Living April 2009

4. Wheat Grass Centerpiece

Here is something to catch the attention of kids. The Wheat Grass Centerpiece could act as a table runner if you plant the wheat seeds in a trough. Or you may use a rectangular dish as a container the wheat grass. If you use a cookie sheet, affix a ribbon around the sides.

As you will insert the cut flowers in water picks make sure the depth of your container is at least 3 inches, maybe more depending on the water picks you will use. Decorate with Easter eggs and animals.

I told you that I was looking for a crafter to design a DIY Easter bunny project since I was unable to find the felt Bunny by Daff at a store. Mom and event planner Michelle of Everyday Celebrating was quick in making my wish a reality.

To continue with the theme, I found on Michaels how to create a cute Felt Easter Puppet Duck. This will give you a head up on preparing for the Easter Sunday family celebrations.

How to Create Your Felt Easter Bunny

Supplies per bunny:

• 2 letter size (8.5 x 11 inches) sheet of thick felt,  rigid framing board or foam board
• Sharp scissors for felt and card board, precision cutter with a new for card foam

Make a test first. If the felt does not stand up, you can double the craft felt. Use a glue gun or sew the pieces together. If you know how, tell me how to refine this technique.

Foam board will stand well but you need to plan a decorative ribbon to hide the foam visible on all edges. Using a mat and framing board is another option since they are available in several colors.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Print out both bunny images (one with ears and one without)
2. Place one piece of felt/rigid board behind one image, attach with pins and cut around the lines.
3. Repeat for the second image
4. Make sure the edges at the bottom of the two bunny pieces are straight. These edges will form the base on which the rabbit sits.
5. Notice the template of the bunny with ears has a dark line up the center. Cut a similar line into your felt/rigid board of the bunny WITH ears. Make sure it goes all the way up to the ears. Be careful not to cut completely through!
6. Next, take the felt/craft board bunny WITHOUT the ears and slide him into the line you cut. You’ll form a plus (+) sign with the two bunnies.
7. Make sure the without ear bunny is pushed all the way to the top of the slit.
8. Next, place the bunny on a flat surface to determine if it’s level. If not, trim the excess off the bottom of one piece to match the other.

Homemade Nutella on the Menu

I often make crepes (not pancakes) or Belgium waffles on Sunday for breakfast. Most of times, I serve them with my quick-to-make fruit jam recipe. It is topped with authentic maple syrup. I do not live in Quebec for nothing.

Once in a while, I will spread Nutella instead. This is why I got intrigued yesterday when I saw on Cook and Eat a recipe for homemade Nutella. The beautiful photos were taken by the talented photographer Lara Ferroni, the blogger behind Cook & Eat.

Until I publish my crepe recipe experiment with Joe David’s Nutella Crepe recipe from David Rocco’s Dolce Vita TV series. Basically, he replaced some of my eggs with olive oil. I drop 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract or orange extract on mine. You evenly smooth out the batter by turning the crepe pan. The key is in the wrist movement.
