If you throw an Halloween, Halloween party favor bags are a must. One option is to print, draw, stencil, stamp or embroider an illustration on a paper bag or a muslin bag. The other is to buy handmade bags. Either way, you will get something that stands out from the crowd.

halloween ghostly popcorn bags diy

Better Homes & Gardens teaches us how to transform a plain vellum bag into a ghostly popcorn or candy bag in 3 simple steps.  First, curve the top edge with scissors. Make the eyes by glueing two wiggle eyes to the front. For take-out bags, I would punch holes on both sides to close the bag with a tied bow.

The next DIY idea uses leftovers. You create your own spider treat bags by sewing pieces of paper grocery bags. For the spiders, Angela of Pillowhead Designs use felt, a black marker and googly eyes.

Halloween Trick or Treat Ideas

halloween parfait topped with a witch hat

halloween parfait topped with a witch hat

The first idea that caught my eye are these DIY witch hats that topped a poisoned parfait from the Bewitched Halloween bash designed by Paula of Frog Price Paperie. The witch hat decorates the spoon; there are no instructions but it is not hard to figure out how she hand crafted them. It could become a wonderful art project to do with your kids on a weekend afternoon.

From the same party, I love her donuts on a broomstick idea! You can create your own broomsticks with rafia and wood skewers.

Bridgett Edwards founded Perideau Designs in 2009. She is a mom who designs beautiful personalized stationery and party supplies. I particularly like the cute silhouettes on her muslin favor bags. Kids love them to see their name of it. Other moms will appreciate that they can reuse the favor bags to carry crayons or small toys. They are available in pack of 6.

DIY End of School Sweet Treat

owl paper craft end of school year printable diy

owl paper craft end of school year printable

I don’t know if these little owls would think it all that wise to give children chocolate on the last day of the school year (wouldn’t a sugar rush would only amplify the excitement?), but their creator Lisa Storms is clever as they come.

It’s almost the end of the school year, and this easy idea is a thoughtful way for kids to kick off the summer with their classmates. It’s a simple project they can make on their own – save for a little scissor supervision and maybe monitoring the sweet treat supply.

Creepy Jigglers

Have a look at those stylish Jello Jiggler bites with gummy body parts trapped inside. Leave it to Jenn from Hostess with the Mostess to elevate a simple treat. I like her idea to present them in an appetizer plate.

She mixed vodka with water to make a grown-up version. Although you can use any flavor, the yellow one delivers the creepiest look since it shows more of the trapped body parts.

A DIY Gift Bag Idea and the Raplapla Dolls

raplapla dolls

diy gift bags

You can sew anything. Here is a cool idea that I spot last year at the Souk @ Sat. When I bought a few bags of absolutely delicious caramels and cookies from Dînette Nationale, they put them in a brown bag. For decoration, they sewed a tag and a long wool string with a contrasting thread. It is simple. Yet, it looks so adorable!

Raplapla Dolls and Soft Animals

Dînette Nationale is a candy maker that distributed her products at the fabulous doll maker Raplapla in Montreal. They also produced a series of Raplapla animals for babies. All her dolls and animals can be washed in the machine and hang to dry. Raplapla dolls and cuddly toys respect Health Canada safety standards. I own this one; she is named Angele. You can buy them on Etsy.
