Country Living shared easy holiday snowflake craft projects that triggered the idea to deck your guest room. I never deck a bedroom but since your guest room is the private living quarter of your guests during their stay, why not add a winter touch to their decor?  The snowflake pillows are cute. Do not forget to add some shiny touches. The silver lampshade is a superb idea to achieve it.

Since your guests may be hungry when they arrive, leave on their room a coconut frosted cupcakes with its beaded snowflake topper. You simply need long and short clear beads and some wire to make your own topper.

For the second time this year, I succumbed to the fabulous cake creations of Cakegirls. This Chicago-based duo is quite busy. Looking at their skills, you can understand why people hire Cakegirls.

Organizing huge parties at Halloween is part of the tradition. With its increased popularity, Halloween is on the verge of becoming an holiday. Who says big events, says cakes. The haunted house cake beats the paper haunted house models. With that level of details ist is almost to great to eat! I am only kidding; I rarely resist a delicious cake.

I noticed that the Halloween decorations this year are more sophisticated. The decorations are even merrier. We seemed to stay away from the scariest Halloween party themes. I guess that we want something else; after the pretty scary have been done so many times. I would not complain about this sweeter side of Happy Halloween.

A Glimpse of Christmas

The Maher sisters also created speciality cakes for Christmas. I would take one gift cake instead of a log. But we will discuss that once we stored away our orange, silver and black decorations.

This British cake baker is very talented. I love her style. These cakes are produced by a mom who used to be a textile designer. While taking care of her two daughters, Natasha Collins launched a cake making business called Nevie-pie Cakes. She decorates cookies, cakes and cupcakes using her sculpting and drawing skills.

The first two ideas are something you can do yourself. I imagined the Owl cupcakes from a Back-to-school party. It is so easy to do that you can ask your kids to help you. I got that idea from Real Simple. On chocolate icing, you use 2 Oreo halves (cream-side up) and 2 Junior Mints to make the eyes. Add a Runts banana for the beak.

Jewellery making parties are popular with little and grown up girls. Use candies to decorate cupcakes. You do not have to stop at floral patterns either. Get an assortment of sprinkles and sugars and let your creativity flow.

My favourite cupcake maker in Montreal, Michelle of Clever Cupcakes did the last two ideas. For a little boy, she created this amazing circus theme cupcakes. They are Vegan chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting topped with handmade fondant circus characters and circus tents.

For a Pink Princess birthday theme, Michelle handcrafted fondant pieces inspired by The Princess and The Frog tale. Michelle said on Flickr that she was inspired from another of my favourite cupcake maker, Blue Cupcake.

I am writing this post in response to a reader’s question. Jessica B. wanted to know where to get this type of cupcake stand.

I usually ask my cupcake baker to make it. This way, I am sure that the colors are coordinated with the cupcakes. But if you do it yourself, you could start from your party decor and provide a sample of your stand paper and ribbons to the cupcake baker.

These are not hard to do if you have some crafting experience. Cakejournal published a step-by-step tutorial on how to make your own cupcake stand. You can be as imaginative as you want. Look at the bold stands produced by Mandotts on Flickr. She is a talented woman with a flair for cupcake and cake decorations.

Everyone loves the sight of a gorgeous cakes. There are so much a part of any celebration. Thanks to #followfriday on Twitter, I discovered one more talented cake designer today. Lori Hutchinson is a Canadian who bakes from Collingwood, Ontario.

Besides her cake design, it is the styling of her cake photos that caught my attention. These were taken at a photo shoot with Erika and Ryan of Rowell Photography. Since her cake shop is called The Caketress, I feel the shots captured that essence.

Cupcake wraps add elegance. There are almost a must for a chic party. I also like when Lori puts her cupcakes inside traditional tea cups. These stitches are hand painted. She created that red and blue cake for an event organized by the Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts.
