Amy Butler launched Solstice, her third collection of fashion handbags and luggage from Kalencom. The Solstice collection is available in a softer palette. Amy took her inspirations from the graceful silver engravings on decorative doors and archways, elaborate stone carvings, fanciful scrollwork and drops of rain on lotus ponds that she saw while visiting India and Bali.
I featured the Take Flight traveler bag (top left) and the Honeysuckle tote (bottom left). They could be just what you need to travel in style this Holiday season.

I usually do not go for astrology items but the fresh and bold illustrations used by French Bull caught my eye. They pop in a right way.
And if you really like the pattern, know French Bull will launch October 15th, 2010 a new bag collection. The same astrology illustrations will be printed on cowhide leather pouches.

Using bold colors and patterns requires more than an eye for design. One luxury company who is known for their bold use of colors is Missoni. The Italian brand opened their first hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland last June. Four more hotels is scheduled to open over the next few years.
As you would expect, the room decor is inspired by Missoni’s line of fabric. Although I do not like all their room decor, I find that some of are well-done. I wish to share my favorite ones with you. The secret is often to use solid colors taken from the bold pattern palette. You do not wish to add new colors. Then, you can oppose textures and finishes (ex: mat vs shiny).
The richness of the more subtle scheme rooms comes from a major element done in a metallic finish. If you like it, check out the Golden Age Silver collection by Missoni.
Although the entrance is a bright yellow, the main walls of the room have an almost plain beige wallpaper. This is what you need to not compete with a bedding.
As many of you, I am a fan of Amy Butler’s stunning patterns. Her latest creation is a collection of hand-tufted rugs for Chandra. They look amazing. There are 19 designs in total. Some patterns were taken from her fabrics and bedding collection.
If you are interested by any of those rugs, the “Where to Buy?” information should be revealed soon.

I do not have kids but I watched closely the hip modern trend regarding baby gears. I think this trend illustrates well the desire of consumers to get the products they want.
Several hip baby brands and stores were founded by style-conscious parents who did not like what big chains are selling. It is also a sign that more people are not ready to give out style because they became parents. As a stylish living advocate, I am thrilled.
If you are attending a baby shower soon, you may want to check out the inventory of Quilt Baby. Founded by parents of two toddlers, Quilt Baby is an independent modern baby bedding and accessory company located in Asheville, North Carolina.
Practical Baby Gears with Modern Style
Quilt Baby provides high quality, practical products to style conscious parents. Their catalogue contains over 20 bold and fun patterns.
The bedding line features crib sets, quilt and pillow sets plus minky blankets. The hardest thing for you will be to select which patterns to buy from between the cutest bibs & burp cloths. Those are baby essentials that new parents never have enough. The adorable onesies are available in short and long sleeve.
Where to shop?
Quilt Baby products are available through several specialized retailers in the United States and one Canadian store located in my home town, Montreal. You can also shop online with retailers from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. Canadians will be happy to know that Purl Mama & Baby sells the Quilt Baby collection at pair.

Do you know what is popular this Fall in dinnerware? I will tell you in a series about the latest Fall collections to hit the stores.
If you are an avid reader of my blog, you will be surprised that I started my tour with Habitat, the store empire from United Kingdom.
Last January, Habitat mandated the young ceramic artist Concetta Gallo to design a range of dinnerware and serving ware for their brand. The results are impressive: a white bone china dinnerware collection full of contrasts and juxtapositions.
Bold patterns are in this Fall
Concetta Gallo came up with an artistic and fresh collection where precious gold finish coexists with drawings, photocopied photo effects and smooth graphic lines. As I show you last Friday with Genevieve Lethu, bold patterns are a popular trend for your table.
What in it the Concetta dinnerware collection?
Flowers, horses and home decor accessories form the key inspirations. One thing that is worth mentioning is that the dinner plates and the side plates are offered in two coordinated patterns. This means your table can look more interesting and unique. Large and medium serveware bowls complete the tabletop collection. I really like the overall look.
Concetta for your home decor
If you prefer to use these patterns for your home decor, you have choices. A rug, a cushion, two vases and a wall art print is available. I suggest you use them wisely. Do not overcrowd the room with all those at the same time unless you oppose the Concetta items to stronger pieces.
September 17, 2007 Update: Ceramic artist Concetta Gallo works on printed pattern and decorative surface design for interior products.
