Round-up: High and Low Extending Dining Tables

I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. I always said that once we bought a house, I would get a new, large dining table. I waited so long because I wanted one that would fit the space. My new dining room is 10 feet by almost 16 feet. Therefore, I’m waiting for a dining table to comfortably sit 10 to 12 persons, when it is fully extended.

My husband prefers a farm style wood table because we live with two active cats. He is right to worry about the cats since they have left plenty of scratches to our espresso stained birch wood table and chairs. But this time, I don’t want a set. I might go for a bench or an assortment of Eames inspired molded plastic chairs.

Personally, I lean towards a mid-century inspired table. My list of extending dining tables includes high and low. My two favorite tables are the Oxymore table by Roche Bobois and the Rowan table by Ethan Allen. The Oxymore table may be more remarkable but the Rowan collection can be made in the color of my choice.

The Ronan collection might be more ordinary than the Oxymore but it will never go out of style. Plus, the fact that the sideboard is slightly taller than the table is a bonus.

I have 2 more contenders that are a splurge. The last 2 tables are way more affordable, at around $1,000.
