Work and Life

Announcing my New Blog, Balancing Act, and the End of At Home

reading balancing act

Inspired by my worldview as a parent and an entrepreneur, Balancing Act by Kim Vallee explores how to find the right balance when it comes to life, parenthood, and owning a business. You’ll notice a touch of design in my opinion articles. What I want Balancing Act to be is a work-life balance guide for modern moms and dads. It’s time that we approach work-life balance by including both parents into the discussions. I hope that you will join me, tell your partners or husbands, and visit at KimVallee.com often.

Everything comes to an end. The time has come for me to officially say goodbye to At Home with Kim Vallee. It was a wonderful adventure. I want to thank you for making it memorable experience for me. It took me a long time to come to terms that I would not write here again. This is why I published less often this year. I needed some transition time to see if I can let go At Home with Kim Vallee. I now feel that I can.

One thing that I can’t stop to do is blogging. Since I launched it in 2007, I met wonderful women bloggers online and offline. I was inspired by your creativity and your kindness. The additional knowledge that I gained by blogging full-time enables me to do a better job at my new business. As I told you last March, I now run a social tech / digital marketing agency. Initially, I opted for repositioning the scope of At Home with Kim Vallee. But I guess that I want to preserve its legacy. The reality is that the blog that I want to write today is quite different. It is targeting a totally different audience. At the end of the day, I feel that I have more to gain by creating a new brand around my business expertise; even if that means to start with one reader (my husband).

Which is why I am happy to announce the launch of my new blog, Balancing Act. It’s now up and running. Balancing Act is the core of my new professional Web site. I also have a Web site for my company. If you care about running a business with a startup mindset, what are the business innovations that can improve our life or how we do business, if you want to know why you should care about responsive Web design, or like to discuss the challenges of work-life balance, I invite you to follow Balancing Act. These are the type of stories that I will cover. My first post is about the need for entrepreneurs to learn to schedule some time off on a daily basis.

I’ll continue to follow the home design, food and entertaining crowd on Twitter and Facebook. We’ll probably have a chance to chat again. Talk to you soon.
