Ultra Modern Reading Nooks in the Playroom and by a Kid’s Desk

bedroom and playroom

This is more than a post about one iconic chair and four looks that were inspired by it. It is a quick lesson about chic and fun ways for decorating the playroom in your home. Yes, these kids rooms share the bubble chair by Eero Aarnio as a decor feature. If you are a fan of the hanging bubble chair but that you are not ready to splurge for an original for a kids room, know that you can find replica. But they also are great example of white wall rooms with a punch of color. Continue Reading

Alessi’s Folding Cake Stands: from Anna Gong to Fatman by Marcel Wanders

fatman by marcel wanders :: folding cake stand for alessi

Like many Alessi products, you may not want to hide this cake stand. Marcel Wanders designed the Fatman cake stand for Alessi.  Wanders put a whimsical touch by dressing as a clown the round structure that you see when the three stainless-steel cake platters are folded. I love it! It is fun, beautiful and, as a bonus, it saves space. I might put it on my wishlist for my birthday — which is next month, by the way. Continue Reading

Retro Style Handsets: From Ericofon to POP Phones

ericofon

In my case, you can’t totally blame it on the Mad Men effect since I bought my original Ericofon long time ago. It was a splurge when I moved to my first apartment. I adored how it looks then and I still do.

Sadly, my cobra telephone passed more time in boxes since nobody around me appreciates it. It’s true that this plastic one-piece telephone becomes heavy if you are having long conversation. And yes, a rotary dialer is cumbersome. But, I don’t make many phone calls anyway. Now it is back in my life. It sits nicely on my mid-century office desk. Finding my old Ericofon last week when I sorted my boxes during my Spring cleaning put a big smile on my face. I was relieved since I was afraid that I gave it away. I won’t make that same mistake again. Continue Reading

My Simple Tips: Get Waterproof Eye Makeup Off More Easily

waterproof mascara remover tips

Any amount of wind makes my eyes cry which why I wear waterproof mascara and long-lasting crayons. But my love affair with waterproof make up products sometimes turn to hate when comes the time to take my makeup off late at night.

Last week, I needed to replenish my waterproof eye make up remover. I was asking the beauty expert about the product performance when she reminded me of a simple tip that makes all the difference. You need to let the remover soak on your eyelashes for at least 10-15 seconds. Then, everything will get off easily. She was right! I found this little break relaxing. Try it and see for yourself how much it makes a difference.

Above are the two waterproof make-up removers that I used more often. What are your favorite ones?

My New Faves: Boon’s Snack Boxes and the Coolest Bottle Feeding Gears

boon snack boxes :: cargo and trunk

Being a stylish modern mom means that my son’s gears can’t be an eyesore and they must perform well. But more importantly, it teaches my son about good design.

Snack Boxes

I bet that your kids won’t complain about eating the healthy food inside these tidy snack boxes. Boon cutely named them Trunk (the elephant) and Cargo (the snail). Assuming that my son likes it as much as his Hippo backpack, he would proudly carry it around. The neat compartments and the snap-seal lid will keep food fresh while we travel. Plus, it is easy to clean everything in the dishwasher.

If you follow me, you know by now that I adore double duty furniture. In my book, green living starts with buying things that will last, which is why I try to buy versatile pieces of furniture.

A dresser is typically associated with the bedroom. But if you select one with the right style, your new dresser or chest can go in any room. I will show you how three dressers feel at home in an entryway, a living room and a dining room. Continue Reading
