Cool Things to Do On Valentine’s Day

I gathered a couple of romantic activities in Montreal to celebrate with a twist Valentine’s Day. Since this year it falls on a Saturday, you can plan a day-event.

van dongen painting the town fauve at montreal museum of fine arts

+ Start the day by visiting the Van Dongen, Painting the Town Fauve exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Have a close look at the first Major Retrospective in North America of the art of Kees van Dongen. A guided tour in English is available at 11 am every Saturday. Opt for the musical audio-guide if you prefer to stay late in bed.

tea menu and breakfast menu at XO restaurant in Montreal

+ Treat yourself to afternoon tea at XO restaurant located in the chic Hotel Le St. James. Taste upscale mini-sandwiches, scones, blood orange marmalade, petits fours, fresh berries, and savor the best tea leaves from Mariage Frères, Paris. I wrote a small review about the excellent tea service last August.

winter bar in the old-port quays

+ After the sunset, hang out and dance at the sound of the DJ in an unusual bar. The Winter Bar sits next to the Old-Port Quays skating ring. Both activities should please you and your date. Engaging in a sport activity was number 9 of last year Top 10 Things To Do On Valentine’s Day by Askmen. I went to the Winter Bar inauguration in 2007. Notice that the bar menu has changed since my review.

le massif ski resort

+ If you have time for a getaway, plan instead for a ski weekend and be seduced in exquisite natural surroundings. The most adventurous may want to try Le Massif, east of Quebec City. Le Massif has the highest vertical drop east of the Rocky Mountains. And there is a good chance that you will find fresh powder snow. The ski resort also famous for the quality of the food served at the base and the summit cafeterias. You will find nothing fried on the menu.

What cool activities are available where you live? What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?

Hi Kim, the program you suggest for Valentine’s day sounds great.
I’ll be on holidays on St Valentine’s day, so I should plan the visit of a romantic place…
