Nathalie and Michelle: I already scheduled a follow-up post about portable BBQ units. Since your comments expanded my ideas, not one but two more posts are in the making for next week.

Love the idea - love that it's environmentally friendly.

How about health issues? Any concerns using this product in that regard?

Would love to know that I can use this product safely - both for myself and for the planet.

Merci, Kim!

Kim,

I bought a BBQ last summer, the One-touch Silver coal BBQ by Weber, their classic model, in blue. I do not use starters and I use Maple coals and wood chips for flavour. It works well.

I find that food taste much better this way than on a gas BBQ, even if it requires a little more planning.

I don't regret my choice, even if a lot of people think I go to a lot of trouble to make a BBQ.

Your option in this post seems like an interesting option too for people who already have a gas BBQ and want to be able to taste the charcoals unique smoky flavor once in a while. It seems also a good item to bring camping.

Thanks for the suggestion! :-)
